TRYING MODERN QUILTS

This was my first effort at making a "modern" quilt, which is outside my comfort zone.  I had fun doing it and I am happy with the funky results.  It won't be to everyone's liking for a baby quilt, but hopefully whoever I give it to can appreciate it.

Chevron bed quilts for little boys' beds

Shannon wanted me to make two of these, one for each of the little boys to put on their big boy beds this December when they take down their cribs.  Pain in the neck to make and bind, but willing to do most anything for those grandkids!

Rose of Sharon

It took me a long time, but it was well worth the effort.  I love the way this turned out and the machine quilting on it, (done by Kathryn Lindsay) is astounding.  This is going to be a wedding present for a sweet neighbor.

IT'S A BOY!

There is a sweet young couple in my neighborhood who is having a baby boy.  I wanted to make this tumbler quilt that was soft and sweet.

House Warming

I have a long time friend who just built a new house and I made this basket table topper as a house warming gift.  I like the subtle colors.

FUNKY BIRDS

I love, love, love this runner I made for my coffee table. I fell in love with the bright, clear fabrics one day when I was at Quilter's Haven in Bountiful.  I have a new applique book with has lots of individual blocks which you can either assemble into a quilt or use individually or in small groupings. I put these two together and I smile every morning when I see it.

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW

This was a special project for me. My friend, Marlene Yates, brought me a scrap of an old quilt top, a double wedding ring, which her Grandmother had started long ago.  She asked me if I could somehow make it into something she could display.  The original quilt top was made from 1930s fabrics and I was able to get this reproduction 30's green fabric to applique it onto.  I then found this multi-color tiny floral reproduction which matched many of the prints in the original piece.  I loved this project, uniting a grandmother and her granddaughter through the art of quilting.

SUMMER FUN

Bright chevrons all around.  I made two of these for friends. One for Robyn Day and one for Lani Wilcox. This is one of Moda Bakeshop's free online patterns.

FISH, FISH, FISH

My grandson, Rider, is absolutely CRAZY for fish. Made one for him and one for his brother, Owen.

I Love Summertime

Another one of my Quilt Soup applique patterns.  Can't beat summer flowers as a theme for a cheerful, colorful quilt.

Sidney's Basket Runner

My daughter's sister-in-law, Sidney Christy, has the Day clan over for dinner almost every Sunday evening.  She also hosts most family get-togethers.  She loves to entertain, but I recognize what a huge endeavor this is for her.  So I made this table runner to go with the colors in her home.  Hope she likes it.

THIS AND THAT TABLE TOPPER

This quilt design is from Two Peas In A Pod (Carol Adams & Connie Cawley) from Bountiful, Utah and it is called This And That.  The original pattern makes a throw sized quilt, so I just made up 6 blocks to use for a table topper.  I enjoyed working with these fabrics and also used them to make another appliqued table runner which I will post soon. You can't see the quilting details, but Black Cat Quilting did an outstanding job on this for me--thanks, Kathryn.

Traditional Simplicity

Jewel tones and white shirting make this one a keeper.  Simple but appealing and the quilting on it really adds to the look of this quilt- thanks to Kathryn Lindsay!

POCKETBOOKS AND PUMPS from Quilt Soup Pattern Company
The top photo is of the quilt before it was finished, but the colors showed so much better on it than the photo I took when it came back from the quilters.  I wanted to show the wonderful custom detailing close up from one of the blocks after the quilting.  My friend, Kathryn Lindsay, did a masterful quilting job on this one.  If you would like to see it in person just stop by, I would be happy to show it to you.

BICYCLES, BICYCLES

I had leftovers of this bicycle fabric from Quilt Soup company and scraps of coordinating fabrics, so put them together to create this for some friends of mine who are having a baby boy.
